Andreas Welin creates public art, using the street as his artistic medium. His artworks make use of the surrounding architecture and colors, and he strives to incorporate the ways people move through the city to encourage public interaction with his pieces.
His themes revolve around the daily lives of people living in the areas and buildings where he paints. His artworks challenge our imagination and invite us to create our own narratives — to make connections. Andreas seeks to capture moods that we all experience to some degree in our social lives. His works are emotional observations of reality and local surroundings.
The paintings explore how body language, current topics, social relations, and color can express what we feel and think. With roots in the street art scene, Andreas has always maintained an interest in classical drawing and painting techniques, which have given him the tools to express figurative ideas.
He lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. In his daily practice, he works in his studio, where he plans and curates his wall paintings. Additionally, he produces oil paintings to explore new angles in his artistic development.

The artwork Drengen med de Snoede Ben was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the local housing cooperative at A/B Søren Norbys Allé. The cooperative helped fund the project by organizing a public event, including a popcorn stand where local residents could donate money. The project also received support from local foundations.
The boy in the painting was inspired by a local child from the neighborhood. His thoughtful posture, with his twisted legs, invites us into his inner world, prompting us to wonder how he experiences life.

The painting is located in Kiruna, Swedish lapland. It is curated by Swedish art organisation “Artscape”. Kiruna is a mining town with the worlds largest iron mine. The mining company is expanding the mine underneath the city. A new town of Kiruna is being build and the houses from the old town are being moved. Locals are forced to move in to new sorroundings with new neighbours, this is an ambivalent feeling for many locals.
